Jan 16, Illustrates how to fell a tree using the Notch and Back-Cut technique. Quick animated sequence to show the expected outcome of implementing the steps describ.
Back cut For all three undercuts, the back cut is made on the opposite side of the tree, slightly above the hinge point of the undercut (Figure 2). The back cut releases the stresses on the back of the tree, allowing the tree to fall. Never make the back cut lower than the undercut because that reverses the roles of the two cuts. Remember to finish the felling cut on the safe side of the tree and use your escape route as soon as the tree begins to fall. Watch for falling material and be far enough from the base of the tree to avoid a kick back, butt swing, or bounce. Avoid walking directly behind the tree.
Figure 1: Escape route positioning. May 03, The video starts out with a man standing on a ladder yelling, “I don’t want to hit anybody, is everybody good?” After getting clearance from the ground, the man begins to cut the branch, but as one side hits the ground, the other side swings back around, knocks the man from the ladder, and slams him straight to the ground.
